Why Programmers Use Two Monitors

Many programmers work with two monitors. Some even use three. This is not just to look cool. It saves time and helps them think clearly.

On one screen, the programmer writes code. On the other screen, they read the rules. They might also watch logs. Logs are messages that show what the program is doing.

If a programmer uses only one screen, they must switch windows often. Each switch takes a second. But the cost is bigger than that. The brain forgets where it was. Then the programmer must find the spot again.

Two screens fix this problem. The eye moves, but the brain stays focused. The code and the rules are both visible at once.

Some studies say two monitors raise productivity by twenty to thirty percent. That is a big number for a cheap change. A second monitor costs less than a day of work.
